I first visited Cafe Núñez about ten years ago. It was probably under different management then but I do recall the food being good and that the restaurant turned into a lounge at night. If you enjoy flavorful Caribbean Latin dishes, you'll enjoy the food here. Recently I ordered from here on two occasions. Both times I ordered their chicken mofongo and it did not disappoint! The mofongo has shredded chicken inside but it also comes with additional strips of juicy grilled chicken with sauce and salad. The mofongo isn't dry but it doesn't feel overly greasy. It's just right and the portion is very filling. At $22 I thought the price was appropriate for the portion. Some of the other mofongos like the shrimp and beef were quite pricey though. They also have a trio mofonfuito appetizer with smaller versions. Fit a better deal, I recommend their all you eat special which is available for breakfast and lunch until 4:30 pm. I haven't seen AYCE 8' a while especially that late in the day. Each time I've ordered for pickup I've been happy with the service. The food is packed neatly and the service is friendly. They even gave me Christmas card with my order this time! Definitely worth visiting.

Ricky y juan gave me an amazing experience and the best service, you must come and visit cafe nuńez

This place seems to be a lounge with a hot buffet? I've never been there at night, but all the negative reviews involve brunch and night visits. I go for lunch and it's ok if on the slightly expensive side. There's a ton of choices though and I always enjoy the food.

Well well where do I start. A big group of friends went to NYC from CT to meet up with 3 other friends from NYC. I will say I'm not impressed with over priced restaurant in New York city because at times if food is good service is terrible, or vise verse. However I have to say they checked all the boxes. Service was top notch. Gabriela was our server and she was assisted by Anderson and Carlos. They did a phenomenal job keeping up with almost 10 woman demanding drinks and lots of water. We were there for almost 7 hours!!! The place looks great and loved that the staff is very organized and in uniform. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. Omg everyone was super happy with all the food they ordered. We had the platter; filet Mignon, steak and chicken Quesadillas, shrimp and chicken Mofongo, churrasco. Everyone had lots of drinks, beers were not as cold but the cocktails were great. Passion fruit drinks, margaritas, morir sonando and more. Ok so we obviously stayed and danced all night. DJTune was in the house and he played a very well diverse set of music. The place was packed but everyone there was polite and well behaved. They had 4 security guards and this was a plus for us to feel safe. The security guard at the front door was my favorite. So awesome and friendly all the time. My only complaint was that the 1/2 the ACs were broken and it was too hot. Most of us hated they do hookah's in the entire restaurant instead of just by the bar area but we know that was just our preference. But this place was excellent for what we needed. I highly recommend it.

My friend came here for an early dinner. The restaurant had just closed their buffet service when arrived, which actually looked pretty decent. The space was nice ... I ordered the Double Cut Pork Chop, which was served with salad and 1 side, which was a happy surprise. I chose Tostones. The Pork Chop was thick, delightfully juicy, succulent and well seasoned. It came with sweet plantain puree in a green apple sauce & chimichurri, which was wonderfully flavorful. The salad was fresh and crunchy. Tostones were oh so crispy, tender, and made even tastier with the strong garlic sauce. I also got to try the Maduros, which were made well. They were sweet, soft, and slightly charred. Service was good. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Prices were not too bad, especially considering the Midtown area. I would return at an earlier time to try the buffet.
